Congratulations Angel
What an exciting victory that was by Angel Cabrera at the Oakmonster! To break 70 twice, to hold off Tiger and to win your first major on such a brutal course is a magnificent feat.
Interestingly, Angel’s homeland, Argentina has come across the Bug’s radar a number of times in recent weeks, as it seems more and more groups of golfers are considering Beunos Aires as a winter golf destination. Until recently, we probably thought of Argentina as a football, rugby and polo nation, but a little research on the internet will reveal a wonderful selection of golf courses, and that allied to great meat and excellent wine, qualify the city for greater investigation.
Another interesting thing about Angel’s victory is that he is another golfer who has taken to wearing a Trion Z bracelet. There are a variety of these magnetic bracelets around, and it seems that a high percentage of pro’s out on tour believe they work. The Bug has been known to be a little temperamental on the course occasionally, so maybe its time to follow the lead from Angel and Vijay, and allow the calming influence of the bracelet to work it’s promised magic.
Also great to see Justin Rose, Nick Dougherty and Paul Casey fighting hard in a major. We we will expecting great things from them at Carnoustie for the Open Championship.
The next big question is how the R&A will set up Carnoustie! We know it can be made everybit as difficult as Oakmont, but with the possibility of the changeable weather that can often affect seaside courses, the potential is even more frightening!
Be sure to check out Golf Bug TV, as we have the R&A official film about Carnoustie playing next month. The course features strongly on the channel now as well, as you can relive the unforgettable moments of the 1999 Open…remember, the Van de Velde Open! And Paul Lawrie, of course!
